We form conditionals with two different clauses:
If clause (conditional) and main clause (result clause), the order is the same but if we start with the if clause we need a comma to separate both clauses.
There are four different kinds of conditionals
Zero Conditional:
General truths
If/ When + present simple Present simple
If you heat water at 100 degrees, it boils
If you don't have your umbrella, when it rains, you get wet
First conditional
Probable conditional
If/ Unless + Present simple Will+verb
Imperative
Modal+verb
If people see Antarctica's beauty, they 'll understand why it's important
Call me if you want to come to the concert tonight
If the station is closed, you can buy the tickets on the Internet
Second conditional
Unlikely conditional
If + Past Simple would+verb
If people saw Antarctica's beauty, they 'd understand why it's important
If I were you, I 'd buy the tickets on the Internet
Third conditional
Impossible conditional
If + past perfect would+present perfect
If people had seen Antarctica's beauty, they 'd have understood why it's important
If I had known that all the tickets were sold out, I 'd have bought them on the Internet
